ELLEN SELBY JEWISON Ellen Selby Jewison, aged 88 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital on March 27, 2000. Selby was born in Carlisle, England in 1911 and immigrated to Canada in the same year with her family. She was a loving, intelligent and successful woman. She was the head of the primary division of the Chalmers United Church Sunday School, secretary of the Isaac Brock Community Club, President of the Quota Club of Winnipeg and ended her business career as the head of the Concrete Division of Winnipeg Supply. She was an exceptionally pleasant, generous and level-headed person who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Selby is survived by her son Don Jewison and his wife Gail Roberts; two granddaughters, Karen Peterman (Mark) and Gillian Jewison; sister Agnes; sisters-in-law, Aileen Fletcher, Frances Rogers (Kem) and Verna Simpson and twelve nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ellen and Joseph Simpson; by her husband Wilfrid Jewison; sisters, Florence, Irene and Peggy and brothers, Earl and Don. A service will be held on Friday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with the Reverend J. Clark Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. There will be a reception in the Chalfont Room of The Wellington, 3161 Grant Avenue after the interment. The family want to especially thank the staff of The Wellington and Home Care for adding so much to the quality of Selbys last years, and the staff of the Palliative Care ward at the Grace Hospital for their excellent care during her illness.
