Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD MURRAY HUDSON Peacefully on March 27, 2000, with his family by his side, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Harold Murray Hudson, left us to be reunited with family and friends. His courage and strength was a great inspiration to his family. Cherished memories are left with his loving wife of 48 years, Kit, daughter Lesley (Oliver) Monkman, sons, Philip (Gisele), Jeff (Veanne) grandchildren, Murray and Jeff Monkman, Ryan, Chelsea and Sara, Karlene, Kristin and Kodi. He is also survived by brothers, Russell (Pam), Douglas (Irene) sisters, Bev (Bill) Davis, Carol Balcaen and Shirley (Mel) Davies; mother-in-law Jessie Watson; in-laws, Eunice (Glen) Edie, John (Eileen) Watson, Lou (Bob) Hill and Pat Watson. Murray was predeceased by his father and mother, Gordon and Maggie, sister Mabel, father-in-law Jock Watson and brothers-in-law, George Watson and Ed Balcaen. Murray was born on July 28, 1929, the youngest son of Gordon and Maggie Hudson. He spent his entire life in Dugald, Manitoba, where his family began homesteading 100 years ago. Here he attended Isbister School and worked hard on the farm with his father. Murray met and married Kit Watson in 1951, which was Dugalds first ever candle lit wedding service. They went on to raise three children on Poplar Grove Farm. His children and grandchildren became the pride and joy of his life. While he farmed, he also took great pride in Hudson Lawn Service, operated with his son Phil, where he not only did his job with enjoyment for 20 years, but also turned many customers into friends. Murray was an active participant of the Dugald Fair and enjoyed whist drives and more recently bingo, where he would visit with friends and reminisce and tell stories of local history. Murray loved sports and passed his competitive spirit to all his children and grandchildren, also taking in many of their games cheering them on. Murrays love of the earth and everything that came from it was evident in his garden and yard. He was a proud hard-working man, which you could tell from his handshake. After retiring, he enjoyed restoring antique farm equipment that he would pick up at local auctions. Special thanks to Bernice, the Oncology Unit and the staff of Palliative Care at the St. Boniface Hospital. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Edie, Glen Edie, Raymond Cook, Gary Brown, Reggie Chubb, John Gerardin and John Watson. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. A private family interment will follow at a later date. Dad, we take great comfort knowing that Heaven will now have greener grass and will never run out of firewood! 102% DAD ! Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
