POLLY PETRACHEK It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Polly Petrachek, aged 72 years, of Gimli, on Sunday, March 26, 2000 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital. Polly was born on October 29, 1927 in Progress, MB and farmed in Shorncliffe until 1975. She then moved to Gimli and resided there until the time of her passing. Polly was a very kind-hearted person who had everyones best interests in mind. She was always very quick to forget all her trials and tribulations and help those around her. Her friends were very dear to her as, no doubt, she was to them. Polly was truly a very special person and will be always remembered for all the kind words she shared publicly about her dear family and friends. As our dear Aunt Rose stated, "Polly, you are my guiding light and my anchor!" Polly will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Cynthia (Vince) Kuzik (Kristen and Laura), Gloria (Jim) Yaremkiewich (Christopher and Clinton), all of Gimli, Elaine (Walter) Shymko (Tammy and Grant, Tracy) of Vancouver; three sons, Don (Pat) Oster (Craig and Melanie, Chantal and Keith Tkachuk), David (Linda) Oster (Keith and Dena, Murray, Amanda and Rod), Jerry (Val) Oster (Jason and Jarrett), all of Winnipeg; three sisters, Rose Polka, Mary Polka and Anne Mandryk; sisters-in-law, Anne Osowski, Lena Globush and Francis Oster; brothers-in-law, Vincent Petrachek, Rudy (Helen) Petrachek, Frank (Betty) Petrachek and Joe Zubriski. She also leaves her two precious great-grandchildren, Matthew and Braeden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her first husband John Oster, and her second husband Joe Petrachek. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 29 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli with cremation to follow. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. also in the Church with Fr. Jose Cabral, Fr. Art Seaman and Deacon Ray Sutton officiating. Interment of ashes to follow in the St. Josephs Cemetery, Shorncliffe. Her pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Pollys memory to the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli. AFTERGLOW Id like the memory of me to be a happy one. Id like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. Id like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times, and bright sunny days. Id like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun Of happy memories that I leave when life is done. Gilbart Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
