ARMAND J. FONTAINE It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Armand J. Fontaine of Saint-Pierre-Jolys, MB, on March 27, 2000 at the Centre Medico Social De Salaberry District Health Center, Saint-Pierre-Jolys. He was predeceased by his loving wife Annette (Cote) his parents, Rodrigue and Anna Fontaine (Carriere) his sisters, Denise and Cecile and his brother Roland; as well as his in-laws, Edouard, Jos and Corona, Edmond, Emile, Gilbert and Rolande, Gilbert, Bud and Louis. Remaining to cherish Armands memory are his sons, Paul (Henriette) and Gerald (Eliane), and his daughter Diane Saive (Maurice) seven grandchildren, Lynne, Ronald, Monique, Martin, Francine, Rejean and Andre; nine great-grandchildren, Allie, Janique, Nikolas and Kristian Tessier, Joey and Tristin Fontaine, Stephanie and Shanelle Grenier, and Ashley Davidson. He also leaves three brothers, Alfred, Romeo (Val) and Henri (Pat) a sister Therese (Bill Weiss) two brothers-in-law, Pierre and Edouard Cote; six sisters-in-law, Rose Gourbil, Rita Allen, Denise Claeys, Lucie Votto, Rachelle Belair and Germaine Fontaine; numerous nephews and nieces. Armand was born on February 17, 1912 in New York Settlement (Sarto, MB) and at a very young age, moved with his parents to Dollard, SK. Later, he returned to Manitoba, married Annette and settled in Saint-Pierre-Jolys. He was a self-employed automotive mechanic and businessman for many years but upon retirement, he returned to his first love, farming. He admired and respected nature, the land and all living creatures. He was a devoted family man who took great pride in his family. Armand was a gentle, soft-spoken, kind-hearted individual who was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Marcel Carriere presiding. Interment to follow at Saint-Pierre Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff members of the De Salaberry District Health Center and the Repos Jolys for their care, support and compassion during his illness.
