Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSE BORGES TAVARES Peacefully, after a lengthy illness on March 27, 2000 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Jose passed away at the age of 74 years. Besides his wife, Jose is survived by his daughters; Isilda and Emanuela (Jeffrey) also precious granddaughter Jenessa; his sisters, Guilhermina (Agostinho), Maria do Espirito Santo, Gloria (Fernando), and also numerous nieces, nephews, and God-children, Jose Silva and Sandra Anacleto, as well as family in Canada, Portugal and Boston. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Gloria; his brother Guilhermo and his special friend and brother-in-law Claudio Barbosa. Jose was born on November 20, 1925 in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. He began his career in 1952 with the Guarda Fiscal of Portugal. In 1955 he married his loving wife Maria de Sao Joao Anacleto. In 1957 he immigrated to Canada with his family later joining him, and they established their home in Winnipeg. He retired from Co-Op Implements of Canada in 1986. Jose was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, always willing to lend a helping hand. Jose took comfort in the simple things in life, never complaining and welcomed a challenge. He enjoyed cooking and gardening. Jose will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family wish to thank Dr. David Crawford and the nursing staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital, special thanks to Edith and Lidia. Extra special thanks to the Barbosa family and the Santos family for always being there for Jose. Prayers will be said on Thursday evening, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. at St Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. also At St Anthonys Parish with Rev Fr. T. McGrath and Msgr. M. Comeault, P.H.V.F. officiating. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eduardo Moreira, Peter Moreira, Steven Moreira, Jose Silva, Rafael Santos and Walter Rodrigues. You will always be loved, You will always be remembered. Descanse em pas.
