Cancellation of Service DONNA H. JAMES Peacefully on Friday, the 31st of March, 2000, our mother and friend passed on. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Williams and Sue-Ellyn Rempel and her husband Jac; and two sons, Marshall (Bud) and his wife Lenore, Frederick Charles; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and husband Clarence. Mom was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1913 shortly after which the family moved to the St. Cloud, Minnesota area. The next move was with her mother to the Molson area of Manitoba where they farmed for a few years, eventually moving to the Kirkfield Park area and then to Headingley where she resided for over 35 years. Our mother was a strong principled person and for those who knew her were aware of her strong convictions and beliefs. The strength was evident in her everyday existence and this strength and her principles were passed on to her children. Enough cannot be said of what she meant to us. Mom was very supportive of all our endeavours and she lived for her family. Mom worked as a chef at various establishments around the city including the first A & W in Winnipeg, Assiniboia Downs, Breezy Bend, The Winnipeg Flying Club, and Bel Acres. Many of you will remember the inspired meals and specialty foods she always insisted on providing for whatever was the function of the day. Mom had a great love for nature and special love for her gardens and her flowers. Spring brought a colourful brilliance to her yard and our hearts. Mom bred and showed her beloved beagles under the prefix of Briarpatch for many years. She was loved and respected as a dog fancier and the beagles she bred have been included in a number of books about the breed. At Donnas request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donnas memory may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. We love you and miss you Mom. Gone but never forgotten. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
