Fanni will be sadly missed by her beloved husband Mel Leonoff and her children David and Sharon Starr of Sharon, Mass. and Donald and Susan Starr of Toronto; grandchildren Bayle, Melissa, Misha and Hally; and sister Rebbie Krawetz of St. Paul, Minn. Fanni was predeceased by her husband Misha Starr and by her parents Sonja and Julius Bernthal. Fanni was in her 84th year and was enjoying a holiday in Palm Springs at the time of her passing. She was born in Winnipeg and attended Machray and St. Johns High School. She was a life member of Hadassah and was a founding member of the Aliya Chapter. She was a volunteer with Jewish Child and Family Services. Fanni was a prolific reader and was a 30 year member of the National Council book club. Fanni was a very active person and was always in good spirits. She loved to share her time with family and friends. Her vast circle of friends and the fact that many of these friendships have lasted more than fifty years reflects her loyalty to her friends.
