Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE DOROTHY AVERY (nee GODWIN) After fighting breast cancer for over 19 years we are sad to say our dear wife, mum, gran and best friend has lost her fight. She passed away on Monday, March 27, 2000 in White Rock, B.C. Mum was born in New Westminister, B.C. on December 14, 1925. As a teenager she moved to the Caribou with her family settling on a farm in Quesnel. This is where she met Dad after the war ended. They married in April, 1947. Their early years were spent in Chilliwack, B.C. raising their three children. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1960 settling in Morse Place. Eventually Mum started to work part time and then full time for Eatons until 1981, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Blessed with her memory are her husband Bas; son Gerry (Lucy) daughter Joanne McDermid; son David; grandchildren, Ryan and Jesse Avery, Sean, Lee and Stewart McDermid. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Pam Tully; brothers, Hugh and Dick Godwin. Mum had many family members on the Avery side that will miss her as well as her many friends and neighbours from E.K. Mum and Dad have been living in White Rock since 1987. She especially enjoyed the summers at Victoria Beach with her family and friends. Mum will be remembered by her special hobbies, which were painting and gardening. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service at Mums request. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of ones choice.
