STANLEY LAWRENCE BRUCE It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Stan Bruce, after a brief illness surrounded by his family on March 29, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre. Cherished memories are left with his loving wife of 41 years, Beverley; children, Cathy (Doug), Judy (Kevin), Debbie and Lawrence (Louise) loving grandfather of Matthew, Tyler, Kayla, Marie, Allan, Travis, Kristin and Derek. Stan was predeceased by his father Henry and his sister Dorothy. He is survived by his mother Jean; sister Clara (Robert): brothers-in-law, Keith and Gord (Mary) and sister-in-law Lorraine (Dave). Stan was born on February 15, 1932 in Giroux, MB, the only son of Henry and Jean Bruce. At a young age he moved to Sioux Lookout, ON, where he graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School. He met his wife Bev there and they were married in 1958. Stan was employed at the Sioux Lookout Zone Hospital in the business office and continued his studies. He took a position of Administrator at the Norway House District Hospital for four years. Then moving to Winnipeg, as Assistant Administrator of the Childrens Hospital for seven years. With the amalgamation of Health Sciences Centre and the Childrens Hospital, Stan worked in the planning department for two years. From here, he accepted a position as Administrator at the East View Lodge in Neepawa. In the remaining years, he was Executive Director of the Betel Home Foundation of Gimli and Selkirk where he retired six years ago. Stan was a very devoted Husband, Dad and Grandpa. He was a very caring person touching the lives of many. He loved the outdoors and had many interests and hobbies but always kept his family close in his heart. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Selkirk United Church in Selkirk on Monday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. barb janes officiating. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to John Jeffery and Hillary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation, 101-55 Donald Ave., Winnipeg, MB or a charity of ones choice in memory of Stan.
