STEVE JACKOWSKI Peacefully on March 30, 2000, Steve Jackowski passed away at the Misericordia Personal Care Home. Steve was born in 1918 and raised at Pine River. He worked on his fathers farm until he enlisted in the Army in 1941. Steve was a member of the Pictou Highlanders as L/CPL and was stationed in the North Atlantic and the Caribbean until 1946. He then came to Winnipeg where he met and married Pearl Werestiuk. Steve was employed at Ambassador Furniture until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife Pearl; step-son Paul; parents, Julia and Stanley; sisters, Anne and Tinnie; and by his brothers, Bill, Peter and Alec. Steve is survived by his loving and devoted companion and wife Mildred; step-daughters, Jean Kleppe of Seattle, WA, Sally Bylow of Whitehorse, YK; grandson Kurt Kleppe; his brothers, Joe (Johanna) of Pine River, Frank (Vicki) of Geraldton, Ont., Sandy (Mary) of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Olga of Dauphin, Man. and Martha (Bill) Kadobianski, Nellie Prociuk and Nellie Boychuk; brother-in-law Peter Prociuk; his extended family and by numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Misericordia Personal Care Home for their support and compassion during his stay. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Green Acres Lane with Rev. Deacon Michael Krochak presiding. Honorary pallbearers will be Linley James, Laurie James, Luciano Rosanf, Peter Prociuk, Paul Prociuk and Greg Ogonoski. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
