BERT HAMM Suddenly on March 31, 2000, at St. Boniface Hospital, Bert Hamm, beloved husband of Doris, of Winnipeg, died at the age of 57 years. Besides his wife he is survived by daughter Monica (Rich) Derksen; son Jeff (Rachel) granddaughter Leah; four brothers, Dave (Grace), Ed (Helga), Jim (Pauline), Harvey (Anne) one sister Ruth (Dave) Guenther; relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Tina and nephew Marvin. Bert was born and raised in Morden, Man. In his youth he participated in many sports and became the keen academic he remained throughout his life. Bert was a spiritual person from a young age and was baptized in Morden. As an adult, Bert moved to Winnipeg where he met and married his dear wife Doris. He and Doris became devoted parents to Monica and Jeff. Later in life, Bert became a special father-in-law to Rich and Rachel and grandfather to Leah. Throughout his life Bert worked tirelessly to support his family, both within the construction industry and more recently in the transport industry. He loved to camp, fish, garden and spend time with family and friends. Bert was always a supportive and compassionate person. He approached life with a warm sense of humour and was always available to listen to, and assist his family and friends in any way he could. Bert shared fully in the lives of those around him. Berts priority in life was his family. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He supported his family through every stage of life and was the central hub of family events. His guidance and love will never be replaced. Bert will always be in the hearts of his family and friends and his presence forever missed in their lives. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the St. Boniface Emergency Department and S.I.C.U. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church, 1771 Pembina Hwy. with interment in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Guenther, Edward Hamm, Harvey Hamm, George Janzen, Dieter Regehr and Martin Regehr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 566 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3A 0G7. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel; 338-0331.
