ERNEST HUTCHINSON MONCRIEFF 1909 - 2000 Peacefully on March 31, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. Ernie will be fondly remembered by his family, as well as the many friends, associates and employees whose lives were touched by his generosity and support over the years. His long and productive life revolved around aviation. A Bush Pilot in the 1930s, a Flying Instructor in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the outbreak of the Second World War, rising to the rank of Group Captain. Ernie presided over 25 years of tremendous growth as President of Standard Aero Engine Ltd. Over the years he served actively in directorships with both corporate and volunteer organizations. An avid golfer, Ernie was a long time member of the St. Charles Country Club. He had a great love of the outdoors and flew extensively throughout North America, including Canadas Arctic. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy; sons, Hugh (Paula), Murray and Colin; grandchildren, Carla (Chris) Marlyn and Hugh (Jennifer) Moncrieff; great-grandchildren, Melissa and Michael Marlyn and William Ernest Moncrieff. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Georges Crescentwood Anglican Church, 168 Wilton St., Winnipeg, Friday April 7 at 3:00 p.m. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to the 3rd floor staff at the Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends wish to do so, a donation may be made in his memory to the Winnipeg Foundation at 301-161 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0Y4.
