ISABELLE CHENIER (nee LAURIN) Peacefully, after bravely coping with declining health for the past few years, Isabelle Chenier (nee Laurin) passed on into the arms of the Lord at the age of 84 on Saturday, April 1, 2000, at St. Boniface General Hospital. Maman was predeceased by her loving husband Antonio (Tony) in 1987 and leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Annette (Alberto) Bonomo, Louise Chenier, Pat (Gary) McGimpsey; her grandchildren, Antonio (Tony) Bonomo, Philippe (Louise) Bonomo, David Mann, Kelly McGimpsey; and three great-grandchildren. Isabelle was born to Basile and Ida (Jodoin) Laurin on February 23, 1916 in St. Boniface, where she resided all her life. She was one of 12 children and is survived by two brothers, Leo (Dolores) Laurin and George (Shirley) Laurin, and sisters-in-law, Lorraine, Margaret and Annette. "Tikine" will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, including the Chenier family, Agnes, Leo and Florence, Lucien, Ernie, Paul and Betty, Eddy and Deed, Lucienne Bernier, Therese Lsurger, Art Antoine and many nieces and nephews. She was particularly appreciative of the friendship and help of her brother-in-law "Lucky", a sentiment that is shared by her children. Memere always looked forward to her summers at the cottage, to her Scrabble games and to her games of Double Solitaire with Kelly. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was blessed with wisdom, common sense and a great sense of humour. Her faith kept her strong in difficult moments and she passed it on to her children, along with her pride in her French-Canadian heritage.
