EFFIE HALAYDA On Monday, April 3, 2000 Effie Halayda, age 92 years, passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Effie was born on February 6, 1908 in Western Ukraine, immigrating to Canada in 1938. She was a longtime member of Blessed Virgin Mary Church. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1971; six siblings, Wasyl, Michael, Katherine, Anna, Maria and Harry; also by her cousins, Maria Wydra and Nettie Danchuk. She is survived by her two sons, Myron, Bob and his wife Shirley; five grandchildren, Jayne and husband Doug, Lisa and fiance Mark, Stephen, Natasha and Anthony. Honorary Pallbearers will be Olga and Andre Leybourne. Pallbearers will be Messers Leonard Danchak, Danny Danchak, Ed Mydlo, Ed Holowich, George Leybourne and Bohdan Buyachok. Panakhyda will be sung on Friday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Officiants will be Bishop Stefan Soroka, Rev. Fr. E. Hafichuk and Rev. Fr. M. Kouts. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Prayers will be sung by the Hoosli Choir with the Liturgy led by the Sisters of St. Josephs. Flowers gratefully declined.
