NORMAN MALLETT (SMOKEY) Peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2000 at the Central City Lodge in British Columbia, Norman Mallett, formerly of Fisher River Cree Nation passed away at the age of 77 years. Norman was born in Fisher River, MB, the youngest of seven brothers. He is survived by his only remaining brother John (Nora) his sister-in-law Elizabeth Mallett and Mary Mallett, both of Fisher River; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends he met in his travels. Norman was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Mallett; five brothers, Henry, Solomon (Ethel), Samuel (Vera), Levi and Benjamin. Even though Norman was originally from Fisher River, his "Home Sweet Home", he spent most of his life travelling mostly in British Columbia, Alberta and the United States, exhibiting his talent of music by playing the accordion and piano wherever he went. He spent his last year at the Central City Lodge. All the years he was away, he never forgot his family back home. He kept in touch with family members and would return home whenever he could. When he phoned home, it was to ask how everyone was. When he came for visits, it was to update us on his very interesting travels and share with us the latest on how his circle of friends were that he knew. We will greatly miss his sense of humour, calls and visits and certainly his special music he would play for us when he came home. It was his wish to be back home to rest in peace with his brothers and parents who have gone on before. The family would like to thank the staff at Central City Lodge for the care given to our loved one. As Norman would say, "So Long". Rest in peace Norman. "He aint heavy, Hes my brother" A wake service was held on Wednesday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Stevens Memorial United Church, Fisher River, MB with Rev. Gloria Muskego officiating. Interment will follow at the Fisher River Community Cemetery. Arrangements Entrusted to ANDERSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME Ashern, Manitoba 1-204-768-3606
