CHRISTINI BROWN With members of her family at her bedside, Christini Brown, long time resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, March 30 at the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina, Saskatchewan. Christini entered this world on Christmas Day, 1916 in Glasgow, Scotland. She joined the family of Robert and Jean MacGarva where she found older sisters Jean, Margaret (Peggie), Anne and brother Robert Alexander waiting for her arrival. Later she became older sister to Myla, Ronald and Irene. The family was complete. In May, 1928 she moved with her parents and siblings from Howell Farm near Kirkcudbright in Scotland to a farm east of Balmoral, Manitoba. In 1936 on August 18, she became the bride of Eherself suddenly widowed and had to revamp life as she knew it. She went back to school and soon after graduation found herself employed in the libdward Brown. They began their married life and survived the balance of the 30s on their own farm in Rockwood Municipality until the beginning of the Second World War. At that time they moved into Winnipeg and then eventually to Grierson Avenue in Kings Park. By 1941 Christini was a busy mother of two. The young family grew and were joined in 1960 by a sister. In October 1966 Christini found rary at the University of Manitoba where she remained until her retirement in 1981. Left to mourn her passing and treasure her memory are her son Edward (Sandy) Brown of Winnipeg and his wife Lucille and their two children, Sean and Joanne along with Seans wife Jackie Meneer; Hillcrest, Alberta; as well as her sisters-in-law, Lena Probetts, Edith Brown, Louise Stevenson, Bernice Knysh, Dorothy Brown, Addie Brown and Lillian Glowachuk; her brother-in-law Clifford Brown and his wiChristinis eldest daughter Jean Leask and husband Allan of Sardis, B.C. and their daughter Shaaron Enright and her husband Kevin and their son Tyler; and by her daughter Wendy Brown and husband Eric Kalinowski of Regina, Saskatchewan with whom she has spent most of the last 10 years. Also mourning their loss are her sisters, Myla Schofield and Irene Foster with her husband Garth all of Clandeboye, Manitoba; her brother Ronald MacGarva and his wife Marion of fe Rose. She is also survived by dozens of adoring nieces and nephews whose lives were truly enriched by her love and guidance. The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street. A visitation was held on Wednesday, April 5 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The pallbearers are her nephews, Blair MacLeod, Ronald Hay, Dennis Cavanagh, Ryan Schofield, Garvin Foster and Dennis Knysh. The interment will be at Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christinis memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
