JOHN WIWCHAR It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and son, John Wiwchar, aged 74 years of Winnipeg, on Tuesday, April 4, 2000. John was born on October 22, 1925 in Ukraine. He arrived in Canada as a child and was raised in Komarno, MB. In 1943 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas in the Second World War. In 1948 he married Olga (Seniuk) and was blessed with three sons. He took great pleasure in supporting his sons hockey endeavours and was their greatest coach through life. John was employed at various automotive dealers as a tune-up technician, retiring in 1986. His biggest hobby was golfing with the "Dunworkin Duffers". John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Olga, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Also mourning his passing are his three sons, Robert (Donna), Michael (Liz) and David; seven dear grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild; his mother Anne; brothers, Nick (Mary) of Kelowna, Bishop Michael of Chicago; numerous nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Wasyl in 1977; his sister, Sister Anita in 1998; his father-in-law Michael in 1983 and mother-in-law Anne in 1992. Prayers will be sung 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 10 also at the church with Most Rev. Bishop Michael Wiwchar, C.Ss.R., Rev. Joseph Pidskalny, OSBM and Rev. Deacon Michael Woroby officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. His pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johns memory to a charity of your choice. Many thanks to the 911 Response Team and to all the doctors and nurses of the Emergency Ward at Seven Oaks Hospital. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
