FREDA BENNETT Peacefully, just prior to her 85th birthday, Freda Bennett passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital on April 7, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Buzz Bennett and her sister Margaret Francis. She was especially close to her "little" sister Eleanor (Sig) Sigurdson of Clearwater, B.C. Ellie will miss her as will her sisters Kathleen Smith of Winnipeg, and Kay (Charles) ONeil of Stockton, California and their families. Special in her life, were her niece Janeen (Bob) LeBlond of Calgary, Alta. and their daughters Jennifer and Denise (Rob) her nephew Dr. Hugh Smith (Juliette) and their son Garth and daughter Andrea and Daniele. Special also, were her childhood friend Ms. Mabel Cheater and her longtime housekeeper Mrs. Peggy Thrush. Born in Scotland, she came to Canada in 1922 and became part of the Mackarness family. Upon graduation from Kelvin High School she started working in a medical office where she met Dr. Buzz Bennett. The family would like to thank Dr. P. G. Mehta for his years of kind and compassionate care. A funeral service for Mrs. Bennett will be held on Monday April 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery and a gathering of friends will be held in Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
