FREDRICK HARVEY GLAZERMAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Fred Glazerman. On Tuesday, April 4, 2000 after a 19 month battle with cancer, Fred peacefully passed away with his family by his side. He is survived by his mother Bertha Glazerman; his two sons, Daniel and Alyn; sisters, Marcia Glazerman and Sandra Caplan; brother-in-law Barry Caplan; his nieces and nephews, Bruce Caplan and Sherri Winters, David Caplan, Errol and Susan Billinkoff and Alexandra Glazerman. Fred was born in Winnipeg on June 1, 1943. He and his family spent summers together at Winnipeg beach where he could be seen racing up and down the lake in his boat or cruising around in his convertible. Freds entrepreneurial spirit led him into a variety of business ventures which included: selling advertising at KY-58, promoting rock concerts, night clubs and restaurants, to publishing Winnipeg Homes. He was always ready for a new and exciting challenge. Even with a busy schedule, Fred was dedicated to giving back to the community. With Freds heart of gold he always tried to accommodate everybodys needs. His outgoing personality will be remembered by all that knew him. Services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Thursday April 6. The pallbearers were, Bruce Caplan, David Caplan, Max Brown, Jason Guralnick, Matthew Narvey and Bobby Stoller. Honourary Pallbearers were, Barry Caplan, Marcel Verdonck, Chris Goodmanson, Susan Marr, Gloria Katz, Don Percy, Carrie and Ross Ransby, Danny Braunstein and Jennifer Baron. Donations can be made to the Cancer Foundation of Manitoba or The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba. Fred, we will remember you.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Hi from Australia I was going through old paperwork today and found a reference written by Fred and Philipa way back in 1976. I am sad to read of Freds passing...he was a livewire! I was the familiy"s Australian nanny for a few months of that year before going on to Montreal to see the Montreal Olympics. Both Fred and Philipa were wonderful to be around as were the two children. Alyn was just a baby and I had a lot more to do with him...such good memories. I also did some work for Sherrill Hershberg, their neighbour. Fred was very generous. I remember going to see Count Basie and also the Russian Ballet, compliments of his connections in the entertainment industry. I would love to make contact with the boys and see where life has taken them. Also Philipa, Memories Teresa Schoermer (nee Hayes) - Posted by: Teresa Schoermer (nee Hayes) (Nanny) on: Mar 15, 2016
