KUMARASURIER SINNIAH It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing away of Kumarasurier Sinniah, with his eldest son and family by his side, at Deer Lodge Centre on Saturday, April 8, 2000, at the age of 82 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Rajaluxmy; father of Dr. Jayanthy Gnananandan (London, U.K.), Jay Jeyanthan (Winnipeg), and Jeyatharan Kumarasurier (California, U.S.A.) and grandfather of Janakan, Janu and Jeevan. His memory will be cherished and fondly remembered by his three children, daughter Jeyanthy, sons, Jeyanthan and Jeyatharan, son-in-law Gnananandan; daughter-in-law Jeyamalar Jeyanthan; grandsons, Janankan Gnananandan, Jeevan Jayanthan and granddaughter Janu Jeyanthan and by his many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He is predeceased by his wife Rajaluxmy (1974). Kumarasurier was born on March 7, 1918 in Kokuvil, Jaffna, Sri Lanka and studied to be a trained teacher. He retired in 1973 and then came to Canada in 1992 to reside with his son Jay Jeyanthan and his family in Winnipeg. The daughters, sons, and their families would like to thank all the staff at the Victoria General Hospital, Fort Garry Care Centre and Deer Lodge Centre for the care given to Kumarasurier during his illness. The children will always remember him for the care, dedication and devotion he gave to them after the loss of their mother at their young ages. The children and their families will carry his love in their hearts forever. Viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the Funeral Service will be held according to Hindu rites at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street, Winnipeg, Cremation will follow thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kumarasurier may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of MB, 301 - 352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
