KATHALEEN MABEL FLORENCE BEAMAN
Date of Passing: Apr 08, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHALEEN MABEL FLORENCE BEAMAN Our beloved sister, aunt and cousin died peacefully with her loved ones nearby, on Saturday, April 8, 2000, in her 88th year. Kathaleen was the sixth of eight children born to Manitoba pioneers, William and Mabel Beaman (nee Hill). Her life was reflective of the events which characterized the 20th century; a happy childhood in Elmwood amid a loving and lively extended family; a young woman during the difficult 1930s; a munitions plant worker in Calgary during the Second World War; and a lengthy career with Canadian Pacific Railway which culminated with her position as Chief Reservations Clerk, Passenger Services. Her love of travel took her to tropical, urban, mountainous and historic destinations. A woman of diverse interests and enthusiasms, Kathaleen was interested in and involved with people of all ages. Active in Calgary and Winnipeg as a Cub Leader, she also was a member of Patricia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; the White Shrine of Jerusalem; the New Horizons Seniors Club at St. Aidans Anglican Church; and more recently the Huff and Puff Club at Riverview Centre. Kathaleen is survived by her sister Alice Fraser; niece Judy Stephenson; great-niece Elizabeth Stephenson, great-nephew Jim Stephenson and his wife Michaela and their children, Kyle and Kendra, and great-nephew John Stephenson and his wife Christine. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Elma Beaman of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her brothers, Andrew, Edwin Beemond, Milton, Elmer and Howard and by her sister Ida. The family sincerely thanks our friends from Manitoba Home Care who provided loving and respectful care during the past several years, Ana Marie, Averill, Joanne, Sophia and Yvette; and support form Phyllis. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathaleens memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave. R3A 1P6 or to the charity of their choice.
