MARY DIDUCH Our Mother and Grandmother passed away at Vita Hospital on Friday morning, April 7, at 79 years of age. She resided at the Vita Personal Care Home the past two years, since becoming ill as the result of heart disease. Mary was born in Stuartburn on February 7, 1921 and lived all her life in the Vita area. At a young age she married Michael Diduch and raised their four children on the family farm. More recently, she sold the farm and moved to a brand new home in Vita. Mary always enjoyed visits with her family, including her children and grandchildren. Her interests and hobbies kept her busy. She decorated beautiful Ukrainian Easter eggs and cooked a delicious meal for everyone who became by for a visit. We all missed the best cabbage rolls and perogies in the world when she became ill and was not able to do so anymore. Her garden was one of the earliest and best around. The food she grew she shared with her family from the city. She loved flowers, growing them indoors and out. She was predeceased by her husband; one daughter, one sister; and two brothers. She is survived by three sons, Bill (Kathy) Winnipeg, Morris (Nell) Winnipeg, Steve (Dorothy) Calgary; two sisters, Anne and Lena (Mike) and one brother Tony. Also her very special friend Mike Kiryluik; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. Smith and Dr. Ayar, the Nursing staff of the P.C.H. and Hospital for the excellent care and kindness shown to our mother and the family. Prayers will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Friday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services on Saturday, April 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vita with Father Ihor Royik and Deacon Leon Twerdun officiating.
