ELVA FRANCE (nee BERREY) Peacefully at Extendicare Medex, Baseline Rd., Ottawa, on Monday, April 10, 2000, Elva France, beloved wife of the late William E. France (former Organist and Choirmaster at Dominion-Chalmers United Church). Elva will be lovingly remembered by her son Christopher, daughter-in-law Dawn, and grandchildren, Jeffrey and Nicole, all from Winnipeg. Elva also leaves to cherish her memory, her nieces, Diane Janes of Stittsville and Joan Thompson of Burlington, and their families. Elva will be sadly missed by her many friends. Elva had a very creative mind which led her to many different art forms, such as sketching, painting, and sculpting, music appreciation, playing and teaching piano, as well as sewing, crafts and gardening. She loved to read, both for pleasure and information, keeping herself up-to-date with favourite authors, world issues and current events. Her broad knowledge was to be admired. Many people will remember her storytelling and long conversations. Elva enjoyed writing poems and short stories, some of which were published. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa, ON on Friday, April 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Dr., Ottawa, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa-Carleton would be appreciated by the family.
