Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE MCDONALD March 29, 1937 - April 9, 2000 Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Wayne passed away in Chilliwack, B.C. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Kim; his father Bob McDonald and his sister-in-law Lynne McDonald. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean; his sons, Greg (Heather) and Brian (Olive) his daughter Pam (Brent) and mother Jessie McDonald. "Poppy" will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren, Colin and Jenna; Carlie and Kyle; Dayna; Brendan and Manon. Also left to mourn are his siblings, Norma (John), Donna (Ian), Eldon and Jim (Marilyn) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Wayne was born in Elkhorn, Man. and moved to Crystal City in 1946. Nicknamed "Libby", he was an avid baseball and hockey player and was well known in Crystal City and surrounding area. He joined the Navy in 1954 and met Jean shortly after in Victoria, B.C. Wayne and Jean were married on April 3, 1958 and moved back to Winnipeg in 1962. Following Waynes retirement, he and Jean moved to Sardis, B.C. where they have had several years enjoying travel and visiting with family and friends. During more than 30 years as "the country milkman", Wayne made many lasting friendships. He had a passion for sports throughout his life, he was a participant and volunteer for both himself and his children, and always a devoted spectator for the sports he loved. Wayne was Past President and Honorary Life Member of the Pembina Curling Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Waynes memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Honorary Pallbearers are Max Lowry, Albert Van Walleghem and Jack Hamer.
