Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA DOROTHY MATILDA SIMPSON With immense sorrow, the family of Edna Simpson announces her passing on April 11, 2000, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Edna was born September 2, 1925 in St. Vital to James and Florence Craigie. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband Gilbert after 50 years of marriage. She also leaves her children, sons, Douglas and Craig and daughters, Karen (Harvey) Enns and Sheilagh (Trevor) Dohie; her cherished granddaughters, Ainsley and Shayna, Jennefer and Chelsea. She also leaves her devoted sisters, Florence (Ray) Matthews, Margaret Riel, Irene (John) McNaught; very dear brothers, James (Eileen) Craigie and Doug (Donna) Craigie; dear brother-in-law Gordon (Ida) Simpson; as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Edna lived all her life in St. Vital. While she had fond memories of her employment at Eatons Mailorder before she married, she devoted her life to her family especially her son Doug, grandchildren and extended family members. She cared for the elderly, children and pets alike, always encouraging and nurturing. Her favourite activity was joining her friends at the Dakota Senior bowling league as well as treating one of her loved ones to lunch. She loved and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was very determined to overcome her trials with her health, always with a sense of humour, never taking her troubles too seriously. She was a wonderful example for all who knew her. May the road rise up to meet you, May the Wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And the rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Mom youre the best! A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at St. Vital United Church, Saturday, April 15 at 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment & Research Foundation. The family thanks the wonderful caregivers in the Palliative Care Ward of St. Boniface Hospital.
