Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES GABER James Gaber passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital with members of his family and his fiancee at his side. Jim was born on October 27, 1925 at Lennard, Man., the seventh child of Alex and Agrapina Gabor. Jim attended school until he was 14 when he left to help his father on the family farm. On October 21, 1948, Jim married Lena Nevistiuk. Jim and Lena worked for four years in Hamilton, Ont. before returning to Manitoba and buying a farm near Lennard where they farmed until 1966 when they moved to Roblin, Man. Between 1951 and 1960 Jim and Lena had five children, four sons and a daughter. Lena passed away in March, 1975. Jim married Frieda Liske in the fall of 1976 and they were together until 1991 when they divorced. From 1966 to 1986 Jim worked as a farm machinery salesperson at his brothers dealership in Roblin. He retired in 1986 and this allowed him to spend more time working at the St. Elijah Romanian Orthodox Church in Lennard. Jim was engaged to Marie Ungrin at the time of his death. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Agrapina; his wife Lena; his sister Mable Galatiuk and brother Gerald. Left behind to keep his memory alive are his children, Byron (Gela), Devron, Whitney (Ava), Darwent and Jay-Jay Toews (Doug) his fiancee Marie Ungrin; eight grandsons, and seven sisters and brothers, Peter (Lena) Dora Story, George (Carol), Anne Poole, Mary, John (Cindy) and Margaret Threader (Bill). The family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Boniface Hospital where Jim received such excellent care in the last few months. Funeral services will be held at St. Elijah Orthodox Church in Lennard at 10:00 a.m. on April 14. For additional information please contact Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin at (204) 937-2111. Donations can be sent to the St. Elijah Pioneer Church Museum at Inglis, MB, R0J 0X0 to help complete the restoration of a pioneer Rumanian house that Jim had dedicated so much time to in the remaining years of his life.
