EMIL "DUKE" LINDAL Emil Duke Lindal was born Thursday, February 4, 1915 in Winnipeg, Man. He was the 13th of 16 children. After growing up on a farm in Lundar, he moved north working as a commercial fisherman and a trapper in the Gillam, York Factory and Shamattawa areas. Duke moved to The Pas in 1947 and later started farming in the Carrot Valley. Duke was a "Triple F" businessman, working in fishing, farming and freighting. Duke married Alice Harpe, Sunday, October 15, 1939. He always was concerned with the well being of his wife (Duke and Alice celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on October 15, 1999), his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was truly devoted to his family and loved each one deeply. "Duke" is a fitting name for a man who won the respect of all those that knew him and loved him. In his own way, he was a true legend of the north. Duke passed away Monday, April 3, 2000 at St. Anthonys Hospital, The Pas at the age of 85 years. • Dad, You were so smart, brave, and a kind, courageous man, a loving dad and grandpa, and a loving husband to Mom. She has been lost without you. I am sorry that I have not been able to take care of her the way that I promised you when you passed. Please ask God to send His guardian angels to take good care of her until she goes to be with you someday, and please forgive me for not being as strong as I should have been. I love you always and forever. - Posted by: Pat (daughter) on: Jun 13, 2017
