HARRY BLAHEY Peacefully at his residence, Harry Blahey, aged 81 years, passed into eternal rest on April 13, 2000. In his passing he leaves to cherish his memory, Frances, his wife of 53 years; children, Bruce (Olga), Angie (Alex), Wayne (Mary Anne) and Glen (Carol) grandchildren, Pamela, Stuart, Renata, Hilary, Grant and Stephanie; also step-grandchildren, Sharon (Terry, Alexis and Megan), Karen (Mike, Kailey and Brett) and Cathy (Jeff and Braeden) brothers, John (Annie), Steve and Tom; sisters, Nellie Maas, Katherine Swar and Ellen (Bill Troschuk). Harry was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Felicia; brothers, Mike, Fred and Bill and sisters, Annie Dedyluk, Mary Blahey and Doris Walashek. Harry was born October 15, 1918 in Chatfield, MB where he developed his love for farming. As a young man he worked in the mines and bush camps of Northwestern Ontario, then returned to Chatfield and began to farm with his wife. Following his retirement from active farming he turned his attention to helping his sons in their farming operations. During this time he also found pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren, showing them the wonders of nature and the rewards of farming. Prayers will be said on April 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel, Arborg, MB. Funeral services will be held at the chapel on April 18 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Fr. H. Oliynek officiating. Interment will follow at Chatfield Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce, Wayne, Glen and Stuart Blahey, Alex Hasay and David Gulowaty. In lieu of flowers, friends may express their sympathies with a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or a charity of their choice.
