LUIGI DEL FRATE May 30, 1928- April 6, 2000 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic loss of our beloved husband and father on Thursday, April 6, 2000 at the Ospedale della Misericordia in Udine, Italy. Luigi is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria; his son Robert (Michelle) and granddaughter Ambra. Luigi immigrated to Canada with Maria in 1957 and settled in Winnipeg, his home for the next 23 years. A skilled welder and journeyman steelworker he worked for many years at Empire Iron Works, contributing to many of Manitobas major construction projects through the 60s and 70s. Friends and colleagues will remember him as a dedicated and tireless contributor, a kind and generous man with impeccable moral and family values. We remember him as a loving husband and father for whom no sacrifice was too great. In 1980 he returned with Maria to his hometown of Fauglis in Italy, bringing many fond memories of his life in Canada. On April 6 his long and difficult battle with a tragically contracted liver disease ended. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 8 in Fauglis, Italy and in respect of Luigis wishes cremation has taken place.
