HAROLD LAWRENCE ARMSTRONG March 17, 1911 April 14, 2000 Harold lived most of his life in the Portage la Prairie area. He attended Ferris Rural School, Victoria School, and Portage Collegiate Institute in Portage la Prairie. He became a farmer, first in Rossendale district and then in Hartford district. Later he left farming and worked at the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage la Prairie, retiring in 1976. He is loved by his wife Isabelle, loved and respected by his five children, many relatives and friends. Harold actively participated in the life of the communities in which he lived. He was predeceased by his sister Hester and his grandson Kris Marcel Morrey. Left to remember and miss him are his wife of 63 years, Isabelle (McMillan), his four daughters: Melba (Doug) Morrey (Lisa (Kelly) Voth, Haleigh and Logan; Karl and Billie Morrey, Kaitlyn and Kris) Pat (Don) Taylor (Tracey (Tim) Reid; Jay Taylor (Ashley and Kyla) Jill Taylor-Hollings (Peter) Colleen Armstrong; Kathi (Franklin) Johnson, Stephanie; his son, Kelly (Sally) Armstrong. Also remaining are his sister Betty Vincent and family of Santa Rosa, CA, his brother John (Madeline) and family of Victoria, B.C., and his niece Frances Bryant of Vancouver, B.C. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m., Trinity United Church, Portage la Prairie, with Rev. Ross Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Should friends desire, donations may be made to The Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or the Portage District General Hospital Foundation, 524 Fifth Street SE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A8.
