Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE A. CARR, R.N. (nee TURKHEIM) October 21, 1924 to April 16, 2000 After a lengthy illness, Irene Carr passed away peacefully, with family by her side. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Charles (Chuck) her son David (Merit) Carr and her daughter Susan (Bill) Stevenson and her six grandchildren, Matthew, Madeline, Emma, Sarah, Jeffrey and Scott. She was predeceased by her parents, Rev. Ernest and Ann Turkheim and by her brother Jack and sisters, Charlotte, Ellen and Trude. She is survived by her sister Ruth and brother Herb. Mom was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the sixth of seven children. She grew up in the small village of Zurich, Ontario and received her R.N. degree from Stratford General Hospital in 1945. In 1947, she and Dad met and married. In the early years of their marriage, while Dad was an auditor for Swifts, they traveled throughout North America, visiting many exotic places and making many friends. They later lived in Delaware, North Carolina, Georgia, Oregon and Chicago, before finally moving to Winnipeg in 1966. Shortly after coming to Winnipeg, Mom resumed her career as a nurse, and ended her career as a head nurse at Holy Family Nursing Home. After her retirement in 1987, Mom and Dad spent many happy years traveling and enjoying life with their children and grandchildren. Our family wishes to thank everyone who helped care for Mom over these past few years. We especially want to thank the staff from Home Care and the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their compassion and care. At Moms request, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held. Flowers are declined with gratitude; however, friends who wish may make a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba (943-6622). Arrangements are entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
