VERA BARTON March 8, 1905 - April 17, 2000 It is with great sorrow that we, the family of Vera Barton, announce her passing on April 17, 2000. Vera was a kind and generous person who will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard I. Barton; brothers, Stanley, Bert, Syd, Ernest; as well as her sisters, Florrie, Edith Dibley, Ethel Piper, Gertrude Thompson, and Hilda McKay. She is survived by nephews, Don Barton, Robert Barton, Syd Piper, Howard Thompson, Leonard Thompson and Gordon Thompson, Bill McKay, Bill Bullman, Gerry Bullman, Victor Bullman, Cliff Bullman, and Syd Bullman; nieces, Doris McKinnon, Mildred Emmett, Mabel Smith, Pat Rye, Marion Schroeder, Joan Farnfield; and several great-nephews and great-nieces. The family would like to thank Evelyn Pourier and Elaine Cherwinski especially for their many acts of kindness towards Vera. Thanks too, to the wonderful staff of Grace Hospital who did so much to help our beloved Vera. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or C.N.I.B, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0L3. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. DONT WAIT When I quit this mortal shore, And mosey around the earth no more, Dont weep, dont sigh, dont sob; I may have struck a better job. Dont go and buy a large bouquet for which youll find it hard to pay: Dont mope around and feel all blue; I may be better off than you. Dont tell the folks I was a saint or any old thing that I aint; If you have jam like that to spread, please hand it out before Im dead. If you have roses, bless my soul, just pin one in my button hole while Im still alive and well today. Dont wait until Ive gone away.
