MARY LOUISE FAVEL "Auntie Louisa" This world has lost a wonderful, caring human being. Over the years, she gave selflessly of herself to whomever needed her help. She cared more for others than herself. Peacefully, Louisa left her earthly home to join her beloved husband and only daughter in their heavenly home on April 17, 2000 at the Peguis Senior Centre, at the age of 107 years. Louisa was born on June 25, 1892 at Fisher River, Manitoba to Jeremiah Rundle and Mary McNab. She lived in Fisher River until she met and married Joe Favel, then she moved to the Peguis Reserve where she remained the rest of her life. She lived on their property until she moved to reside with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold (Buddy) Favel, then she moved to the Peguis Senior Centre in 1992. Louisa lost her loving husband Joe in July 1946, her only daughter Margaret in October 1947 and her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are Mrs. Ruth Hood and family of Selkirk, MB, Mrs. Josephine Courchene and family of Fort Alexander, MB, Mrs. Ruth (Favel) Packulak and family, Mrs. Gladys Favel and family, Mrs. Dora Favel and family of Peguis, MB, Mrs. Lena Murdock and family of Fisher River, MB and many other family and friends. Louisa loved the great outdoors, where she enjoyed picking blueberries, mossberries, and digging seneca root. Her door was always open to anyone who dropped by to enjoy a cup of tea and homemade bread, and to listen to her tell many a good story. She had a great sense of humour, loved to laugh and sing. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Her life was a gift to us and we are so much richer for it. From the Peguis Senior Centre staff and residents, Louisas quiet, gentle manner in which she moved among us will long be remembered. Never demanding, nor impatient, ever graceful and appreciative of the least kindness done in her behalf. To be entrusted with the care of the life of one so precious has been such an honor for all of us. The imprint of humility and wisdom left to us by her example will stay with us always. Active pallbearers are Clarence Hood, Charlie Courchene, Ron Favell, Alfred Michaud, Gerald Favel and Gerald Murdock. Honorary pallbearers are Maryanne Pertson, Sherry Asham, Olive McCorrister, Janice Sinclair, and all other staff of the Peguis Senior Centre. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Percy E. Moore Hospital and to the extremely wonderful nurses, health care aides, administration, and all other staff of the Peguis Senior Centre for their excellent care and compassion. Service will be held Thursday, April 20, 7:00 p.m. at Peguis Wesleyan Methodist Church, Rev. Ron Favell officiating. Prayers will be held for Residents, Staff and family on Friday, April 21, 6:30 p.m. at St. Lukes Chapel, Peguis Senior Centre. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 22, at the Peguis Community Hall, viewing at 12:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m.. Interment to follow at St. Peters Anglican Church Cemetery. Rev. Barry Bear and Rev. Wesley Barrett officiating. "Death can take away the person but it cannot take away the love and memories that we will cherish forever." Arrangements entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home, Ashern, Manitoba 1-204-768-3606.
