MILDRED KELLIHER PARNELL (LYLE) July 28 1911 - April 17, 2000 It is with great sorrow that the family of Mildred Parnell announces the passing of their cherished mother at the age of 88 on Monday morning, April 17, 2000. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband, Art Parnell in 1994. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dr. Judith (Jack) Scanlan, Vivian (Bill) Atwood, and Lyle (Marlene) Parnell; and her grandchildren, Catherine and Colleen Scanlan, Bill Jr. and Keith Atwood, and Robb, Kristen, Ryan and Kerri Parnell. She is also survived by her brother Douglas Lyle. Mom was born in Kelliher, SK, July 28, 1911. In 1933 she graduated from the Regina General Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Mom was always proud to be a nurse. She married our Dad on November 11, 1939 in Montreal. Their life with the Bank of Montreal took them to several communities on the prairies. With Dad she created a home in which we, their children, were nurtured and loved. We always knew that Mom was there for us. In the later years of her life, Moms artistic talents emerged. Her creativity as a china painter has left us with many treasured mementos. Through them we will have a daily reminder of her passion for china painting. Unbeknownst to her family, Mom had been struggling for some time with a failing heart. Courageously our Mom remained alert and focused at all times knowing exactly what she wanted. She approached life with a sense of humour that never deserted her, even when she was not feeling well. We would like to express a sincere thank you to all of her nurses and doctors on Unit 5 at the Victoria General Hospital for the wonderful care of our Mom. Your care-giving was appreciated and we will never forget what you did for her. A celebration of Moms life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 3:00 p.m., at St. Albans Anglican Church, Rathgar and Osborne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. Mom, we will miss you dearly, but take comfort in knowing there is a new angel in heaven watching over us. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
