JUDITH EILEEN SIMONITE (nee SUTHERLAND) After a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at the Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by loved ones, Judy Simonite passed away at the age of 59 years. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Ron; son Doug (Barb), grandson Riley, of Prince Albert, SK; son Ken (Gloria), granddaughters, Brenna and April; and son Chris; mother Eileen Johnson; step-father Foster Johnson; sister Maureen (Denis) Pilote of Clarence Creek, ON; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her father Geordie Sutherland. Judy was born on September 8, 1940. The daughter of a career member of the Air Force, she was raised in various locations across Canada. In the 1950s and 60s she worked as a hairdresser and a hairdressing instructor while helping to support her mother and sister following the untimely death of her father. She married Ron, her husband of 37 years, and raised three sons who were her pride and joy. Judys philosophy in life was to try to do a good deed every day. Her life was consumed by her love for family and friends. She loved all children and took special joy in her three grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate Judys life will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Private family interment to follow at a later date. A special thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Ward, for their devoted and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Judy will live forever in our hearts and thoughts.
