AMANDA NACHTIGALL (Gall - Meisner) March 8, 1911 - April 17, 2000 Peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, Amanda Nachtigall passed away at the age of 89 years. Amanda was born at Beausejour, MB. At an early age she moved to the Bayton District with her parents, where she attended Bayton School and St. Thomas Church. On October 26, 1926 she married Daniel Meisner and together they had nine children and farmed in the New Scotland District until his passing. On July 4, 1964 she married Arthur Nachtigall and together they farmed in the Steep Rock area until his passing. Over the years, she enjoyed many hours of sewing, knitting and gardening. She retired in the Moosehorn area with her son Martin, then spent the last few years in Winnipeg with her daughter Emily. She is survived by her children, Art Meisner of Vernon, BC, Roy (Marline) Meisner of Moosehorn, MB, Alice (Harvey) Topnik of Abbotsford, BC, John Meisner (friend Karen) of Moosehorn, MB, Gordon (Elaine) Meisner of Moosehorn, MB, Clifford (Janis) Meisner of Winnipeg, Emily (Cameron) Holloway of Winnipeg, MB and Martin Meisner of Vancouver, BC. She is also survived by daughters-in-law, Sheila Meisner and Edna Meisner; a sister Edith Kingston; special friends of the family, Elias Lewis and Vern Viznaugh, 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews and friends. Amanda was predeceased by her first husband Daniel Meisner in 1959; by her second husband Arthur Nachtigall in 1977; one son David Meisner in 2000; a daughter-in-law Agnes Meisner in 1996 and a great-grandson Andrew Rebillard in 1999; also by her parents, Fred and Hulda Gall; brothers, Robert Gustav and baby Emil Gall; sisters, Alvina Bittof, Martha Claeys and Emma Meisner. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, with Rev. Donna J. Smalley officiating. Interment to follow at the St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Viewing also at the church prior to the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons Ralph Meisner, Bradley Meisner, Leon Meisner, Devon Meisner, Dan Meisner and Trevor Viznaugh. A very special thank you to Dr. Shnider, nurses and staff on the third floor of the Victoria General Hospital for all the care they gave Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 68, Moosehorn, MB, R0C 2E0, or to a charity of ones choice.
