Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT GLENN WEEKS The year 1999 marked the 44th crop that Bob harvested. His love of farming and the hard work it entailed gave his family a legacy they will always remember. Bob passed away peacefully April 14, 2000 at Lorne Memorial Hospital, Swan Lake, Man. Bob was born to Wilfred and Hilda Weeks on December 9, 1940 at their home on NW quarter of 28-2-9 near LaRiviere, Man. This is where he lived and farmed his entire life. He attended McKenzie School and in 1956 he began his life long career and passion of farming, leaving school to run the family farm due to his fathers illness. On April 11, 1966 Bob married the love of his life and best friend, Alice Gevaert, who became his partner in farming. Together they raised their three children to love the life of the farm. When his children married he considered his family to have doubled in size, and he thought of all of them as his children. He was proud of their accomplishments and the lives they have chosen to lead. Livestock was very important to Bob. His most cherished part of the farm was his cattle. Together with his sons they built a large cattle herd of which he was extremely proud. He enjoyed the sales, the searching for a bull and the visits he had with cattlemen along the way. His favourite time of year was calving time, despite the long hours and hard work, he looked forward to the arrival of a new calf. Another passion of Bobs was wildlife. As much as he enjoyed the outdoors and hunting for the companionship of those who hunted with him, he received the most joy from watching the deer feed in the yard during wintertime. It was because of his love of his farm, the land and the wildlife that part of his ashes will be scattered on his farm, in the valley. Because of his love of his family part of his ashes will be interned with his family at Riverside Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held on April 19 at the Holiday Mountain Day Lodge, LaRiviere, Man. Rev. Bev Simpson officiating. Bob will be fondly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Alice; his children, Glenn and wife Candy, Dennis and wife Gwen, Michelle and husband Sheldon. His sisters, Bea and Jim Sheffield, Phyllis and Gordon Walker, Linda and Dennis Heasley; sisters-in-law, Dixie Weeks, Lorraine Normandeau, Lucie and Don Grenier, Marielle and Ron Bosak. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Bob will be farming in heaven with his Dad and Mom and brother Hugh. Friends, if they desire may donate in his memory to Lorne Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Room, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

One time we went hunting together and had to walk a long way around and up some big hills in a hurry to get into position for a drive as we called it. We walked about 5 miles up and down these hills in the Pembina Valley and he was in the lead, well I was getting tired and I was a lot younger and working in a physical job climbing poles for hydro so I sure wasn't going to ask him to stop but it dam near tuckered me out till we finally got to the spot and I never said a word. - Posted by: Tom Sheffield (nephew) on: May 08, 2013
