VERA IONA WORK Peacefully in her sleep, Vera passed away with her family at her side at the Trilake Health Centre in Killarney on April 19, 2000. Vera was predeceased by her husband William in May 1959; two daughters, Iona and Mary; two sons, David and Bill; two grandsons, Steven and Murray; one granddaughter Darlene and one great-grandson Aaron. Vera was born on her Grandmothers farm near Neliegh Nebraska on August 8, 1906 and moved to the Clearwater area in 1913. She married William Work in Pilot Mound, August 17, 1925. They farmed the Groves Estate until in 1930, moving to the north Derby District where they farmed until the untimely passing of William in 1959. She moved to Killarney and worked in the area for a short time, then to Dauphin and to Kenaston, SK where she resided until her retirement to Willow Lodge, Killarney in 1978 to the present. She had a full rich life enjoying every moment, her many crafts from polished stones, seashell work, fine furniture from tin cans and in later years 3D puzzles. Vera is survived by her one son Ivan (Armelene) five daughters, Frances, Shirley, Elaine (Ken), Ellen and Enid (Phil) 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wheatland Chapel, Killarney, MB, Rev. Doug Craig officiating. Interment to follow beside her husband William and two daughters in Cartwright, MB. Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Pallbearers will be grandsons Russell Taylor, Bill Reeves, Daryn and Curtis Work, Barry and Kevin Bassaraba. Killarney Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
