CHARLES ALLARD With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Charles Allard, beloved husband, father and grandfather on April 21, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 81 years. Dad was born on June 28, 1918 and married Louise (nee Rocan), the love of his life on June 29, 1946. Their marriage and their love lasted for 53 years. Their devotion to each other was the focus of their family life. Well aware of the seriousness of his illness, Dad never gave up the hope that he would soon be well enough to return home to his family. Plagued with illnesses and numerous operations throughout his life, he was always so strong and tried as best as he could to enjoy life to its fullest and never complained if he was feeling ill. Having spent six years overseas as an armored tank driver during the Second World War, Dad returned to his native home town of The Pas, MB where he worked at the lumber mill. Mom and Dad then returned to Winnipeg to start their family home. Dad worked at Westeel-Rosco Ltd. for 37 years, retiring in 1983. Dad loved golfing, target-shooting and bowling and could spend countless hours in his tomato garden. Thank you Dad for having such wonderful carpentry skills that made our endless construction projects a reality. You were a tower of strength that could never refuse a request for help or advice from any member of your family. You were always there for us and we will miss you deeply. Charles is survived by his loving wife Louise; daughters, Yvonne and Lucille (Jerry) grandchildren, Marc, Janine and Cory; brothers, Bernard (Georgene) and George (Doris) sister Rita; sisters-in-law, Marcelle and Laure; brothers-in-law, Maurice (Jeanne) and Ralph and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Alice; sisters, Therese, Madeleine and Bernadette; brothers, Roland, Joseph and Emil. The Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale, on Wednesday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Private family interment to follow at a later date in the Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do, You mustnt tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now its time I travelled on alone; So grieve a while for me if grieve you must, Then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart, I wont be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come, Though you cant see me or touch me, Ill be near And if you listen with your heart, youll hear All of my love around you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone Ill greet you with a smile and say "Welcome Home". We will miss you and love you forever. Until we meet again."
