Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISAAC (IKE or JIM) KLASSEN With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our cherished Dad and Poppa, on Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Grace General Hospital. Dad is survived by his son Warren and daughter-in-law Linda and his cherished only grandchild Erika. Dad is also survived by brothers, Dave, Ed (Toots) of Winnipeg, and Ray (Marg) of Cambridge, Ont., as well as numerous nephews and nieces, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his wife Sophie in 1996, a cherished partner to whom he was married to for over 46 years. Isaac, Ike, or Jim, depending on which group he belonged to, was a retired City of Winnipeg Hydro Employee as well as being retired from volunteering with St. Johns Ambulance and Meals on Wheels. Dad was born in Lowe Farm, Man., on April 3, 1921. He joined the military in 1941 and served in active service with the Lord Strathcona Horse (R.C.) until 1945. He remained active with the Over 60 Club at both the St. James Legion #4 and ANAF #283 where he took part in bingo, snooker, darts, crib, and socializing with his friends. Jim will be especially missed by his best bingo buddy, Lindas mom, Vickie Hoshowski. Dad met Mom at the old Winnipeg Roller Rink and they were married in 1949. Dad with Mom, spent many hours together playing cards and bingo with friends and family. They both devoted their lives to raising their only son. Dad was active in Warrens raising by being a Cub and Scout Master and assisting with sports coaching. Dad further took joy in sharing his knowledge and love of outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Dad became a proud Poppa four-and-one-half years ago to his granddaughter Erika, a role which he enjoyed immensely and which Erika loved as well. She will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the ANAF #283, 3584 Portage Avenue.
