MARY WASNEY It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family of Mary Wasney announces the passing of their beloved Mother and Grandmother at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on Saturday, April 22, 2000 with family be her side. Mary was born and educated in Ladywood, Man. and married Peter Wasney in Garson, Man. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1940, her daughter Eleanore Richards in 1966 and son-in-law Jack Smith in 1997, parents May and George Kulbaba and two brothers Peter and Paul Kulbaba. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Alma Smith of Kenora and Joyce Smith of Victoria, B.C.; her son-in-law Frank Richards (Dulcie) Kenora; brothers Walter of Edmonton and Ronald of Winnipeg, and her sister Katherine Braithwaite (Ray) of Mississauga. Mary also leaves to mourn her eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary was was widowed at a very young age and she will always be appreciated for all that she went without in order to provide for her children. She was a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother and can best be remembered as the friendly lady behind the counter at Acme Cleaners where she worked for over 40 years. She was an excellent cook and delighted in surprising her family with all her famous goodies. At Marys request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kenora on Wednesday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Alan Campeau officiating Interment to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery. Mary was always appreciative of the excellent care she received during her many stays at our local hospital, and therefore, if friends should desire, a donation in her memory would be most welcome to The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation, 21 Sylvan St., Kenora, Ont. To Love a Mother and then to part Is the greatest trial of the human heart Years of caring, little of play, Loving and giving all the way A cherished smile, a heart of gold To the dearest Mother the world could hold. Rest in Peace Dear Mom, you deserve it.
