Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ARLEY GEORGE CUMMER With great sadness the family announce that Arley passed away Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the Golden Links Lodge, Winnipeg. Left to treasure his memory is his wife Jean, married 55 years; his daughters, Corinne Salkus and Margaret Fair; granddaughters, Dawn Haddad, Janaleen and Charleen Fair. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Lloyd (Edna), Wilfred (Edith), Bert (Velma), Edgar (Cathy), Everett (Jenny) and sisters, Chloe and Elsie. Arley was predeceased by his sister Viola; and his parents, Ida and Amos Cummer. Arley was born on May 31, 1918 in Bradburn, Man. and grew up in the Roseisle, Man. area before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1942 and spending four years in the Second World War in Europe. Arley and Jean were married in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 4, 1945 and after the War returned to Roseisle where they farmed for several years before moving to Brandon, Man. in 1956. Arley retired from the Federal Civil Service in 1983 and continued to reside in Brandon until moving to Winnipeg in 1997. Along with his interest in gardening, travel and his hobby of making lawn ornaments, Arleys greatest passion was his lifelong love of playing his fiddle, left to him by his father. Arley was devoted to his family and throughout his life always managed to maintain an optimistic outlook while having the rare gift of being able to see the humourous side of any situation. In accordance with Arleys wishes, cremation will precede the memorial service which will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Green Acres Lane with Rev. Bob Davis officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arleys memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Inc., 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. The family wish to thank Judy Coleman and the devoted care givers at Golden Links Lodge for their kindness and compassion. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
