MARY SPROULE (nee PAWLYCHKA) 1908 April 25 2000 Peacefully on April 25, 2000 at Oakview Centre, Mary Sproule, passed away at the age of 91 years. Mary was born in the Ukraine, daughter of Stanley and Katherine Pawlychka. Her parents homesteaded in the Fish Lake area in 1913 and later moved to Wheat Hill in the early 1930s. Mary and her sister Annie left Chatfield once they had completed school as there were few opportunities for employment in the area. Mary worked at various jobs but always visited family regularly. She eventually worked for the CPR as a cook in Fort William (Thunder Bay). Mary met her husband Harold Sproule while working on a lake boat as a cook. They lived in Port Colborne, Ontario for fourteen years until Harold passed away suddenly in 1961. Mary moved to Victoria, BC soon after. After a number of years in BC she moved back to Winnipeg so she could be close to the family. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Kay Fossay, Lily Hicks and Christine Arden; also her sister-in-law Mary (John) Pawlychka; and brother-in-law Fred (Annie) Wickenden as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We wish to thank the staff of Oakview Place for their kind and tender care. Viewing 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Cremation will follow and a private service will be held at a later date. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street 774-7474
