Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRODNEY THOMAS HOPGOOD Peacefully on April 24, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, with his family at his side, Rodney Hopgood, aged 36 years of Winnipeg. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy; his daughters, Desiree and Kayla; his mom and dad, Sharon and Tom Hopgood of Steep Rock; two brothers, Greg (Vicky) of Stonewall, Kelvin (Penny) of Winnipeg; and a sister Allison of Winnipeg; his grandpa Jack Aitkens of Selkirk and his grandma Marge Hopgood of Winnipeg; and a mother-in-law Anne Bates of Winnipeg; two sisters-in-law Barb (Ron) Maxwell of Elira, Ont., Sharon (Angus) Bonwick of Sanford, Man.; and a brother-in-law Michael Bates of Winnipeg, along with many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, family members and many good friends. Rodney was born on May 8, 1963 in Ashern. He grew up in Winnipeg and received his education in Brooklands. As a young man he enjoyed his trips to the country, especially to Grahamdale. This is where he met Cindy Bates in 1983, and later were married on May 10, 1986, and together they had two beautiful girls, Desiree and Kayla. His wife and children were the centre of his life. Rodney and Cindy enjoyed horseback riding together. Rodney loved the outdoors and nature. He liked to cook and enjoyed helping with the household chores. Rodney was also an avid gardener. Rodney and Cindy and their children took many trips together. Rodney drove truck for many years, and most recently was employed for many years with MacCosham Van Lines. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28 at the Grahamdale Community Hall with Student Minister Melanie Kauppila officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, at the hall in Grahamdale. Interment to follow at the Grahamdale Community Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Dodd, Ken Feechuk, Doug Hunter, Ken Jackson, Conrad Bonwick, Dave Simpson, Angus Bonwick and Butch Ducharme. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Desiree and Kayla Hopgood Trust Fund, Box 580, Eriksdale Credit Union, Ashern Branch, R0C 0E0. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd.
