SEAN GILLEN It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic death of our father, brother, son and grandpa Sean Gillen. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Sean and wife Wendy; daughters, Pat and husband Dan, Susan and husband Aaron. His loving memory will also be carried on by his father Ormond; his brothers, Jim and wife Georgina, Paul and wife Nancy; and sisters, Karen and Ann; his grandchildren, Alex, Brendan, Colin and Jack; as well as many nieces and nephews will be able to take his endearing love with them where ever their lives may lead them. Sean worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway at Weston Shops until 1987 when he transferred to Ogden Shops in Calgary. Sean was very active and passionate in the labour movement and union. He was President of the Calgary & District Labour Council, Executive Officer Alberta Federation of Labour, President of the Varsity New Democrats, Vice President Calgary Nose Hill New Democrats, President Calgary and District New Democrat House Society and a member of the Canadian Auto Workers Lodge 42, Local 101. Sean loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved Irish Music, sports, history and his involvement with the union. In troubled times, Sean provided a ray of sunshine to those he held dear. He touched a great many lives and life is better to have known him. He will be greatly missed.
