DOROTHY HILDA MULLER Peacefully, on Wednesday, April 26, 2000, Dorothy Muller passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 99 years. Dorothy was born in England on July 22, 1900. She came to Canada with her parents, Hilda and Barton Smyth in 1906. She graduated from St. Marys Academy in 1918. During her time at school, she took piano lessons; upon leaving school she took singing lessons and sang on the C.N.R.W. which entertained passengers en route to their destinations. She later sang with the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. Dorothy married Celeste Muller on July 15, 1925. They moved from St. Norbert to Transcona in 1927 where Celeste taught school. They moved to Ericksdale in 1936 and spent the next five years there. She took charge of the music in the school where she and her father put on an operetta with the school children at Christmas. Dorothy came to St. Boniface with her family in 1941. Upon the death of her husband in 1986, she moved to lAcceuil Colombien and resided there until 1995. She resided at Meadowood Manor and was later transferred to Golden Links Lodge where she spent the final years of her life. Dorothy had a keen interest in Bridge and had started Bridge clubs in Transcona, Ericksdale and St. Boniface. She was accomplished at many crafts and artwork such as needlepoint, clay modelling of flowers, oil painting, shell crafts, crochet, pastels, and knitting. As a member of the Holy Cross Church, she started the Catholic Womens League in the Diocese of St. Boniface. She was Provincial President and National Secretary of the League for several years. She also did all of the secretarial work and typing for her husband who was a provincial school inspector. Dorothy is survived by her son Gerald and wife Jeanne; and by her daughter-in-law Bertha. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, Bob (Bertha) and Bernie, and by her daughter-in-law Wilma. Many thanks are extended to the staff at the Golden Links Lodge for their continued care and kindness. Thanks also to the staff at the Deer Lodge Centre, 3 East, for their special treatment and consideration in our time of need. Prayer service for Dorothy will be held at the Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St. in Norwood on Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. James Gray the following day, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. also at the church. Interment will take place in St. Boniface Cemetery, Archibald St., following the mass.
