ELLA GUARINO (nee MACHOLZ) Peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2000, Ella Guarino, age 72, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Tache Nursing Home with her family at her side. Ella will be greatly missed by Joseph, her loving husband of 47 years. She will also be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cheryl Forbes (Rob), Wendy Caron (Lawrence) her son Jeff (Susan) eight grandchildren, Jaime (Jed), Jordan, Brandon, Brady, Riley, Melody, Brittany and Andrea; sister Freda Macholz and brother Arthur Macholz. Ella was predeceased by her sister Lydia. On July 28, 1927 Ella was born in Michalin, Poland, and moved at the age of two, with her parents and sister Freda to Winnipeg. Her parents became market gardeners and she grew up on the farm. Ella attended Rosewell School, Lord Kitchner, Transcona Collegiate and finally Success Business College. She was employed with Marshall Wells until she married in 1953. She loved to spend her summers at the cottage on Brereton Lake. It was here Ella enjoyed the company of family and friends. Her greatest enjoyments were picking blueberries, gardening, and playing cards. Once retired, she and her husband Joe, spent their winters in Texas and Florida. Ella was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry: Like an eagle I soar Now Im free as a breeze A prisoners release My spirits at ease My soul in peace - Ella Guarino A private family funeral service for Ella was held this morning, Saturday, April 29 and Entombment followed in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Our appreciation and thanks go to the compassionate and loving staff who gently cared for her at Tache Centre. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made in Ellas memory to the Alzheimer Society, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg R3C 4G2.
