JACK SKLOVER Peacefully, with his children at his side, Jack Sklover passed away on April 14, 2000. Jack was born on March 1, 1922 in Warsaw, Poland. He came to Winnipeg with his mother in October of the same year. His father had immigrated earlier to locate a home for the family. Jack spent his early years in Winnipeg, Yorkton and Moose Jaw. The family relocated to Winnipeg where he received his education at Aberdeen School and St. Johns High School. Jack completed his education at the University of Manitoba in 1944 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After completing his degree Jack was employed as a chemist at several oil refineries and at the Shell Oil Refinery for over 30 years. At Shell Oil Jack was a chief chemist at the St. Boniface Plant. He took much pride in his years of service and also receiving awards for having a perfect safety record. Jack truly enjoyed life. He remained very active after he retired in 1982. Jack returned to University where took courses for interest and the love of learning. He also took on a new career doing tax returns at H & R Block, he did this for several years. He was always seen working out at the Old Y.M.H.A. and in the last couple of years at the Rady Jewish Community Centre. Everyone knew him there and Jack spent much time visiting with the other members during his workout. Jack also enjoyed going to the symphony and to the Jewish Theatre. To Jack, his family was Number One. He lost the love of his life, Elaine, on March 4, 1997. They had been married for 48 years. He leaves to mourn his three children and their spouses, Bill (Shelley), Susan (Howard) and Joanne (Shane). He also leaves to mourn the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Lauren, Aron, Ellie, Jana, Shira and Mason. Jack enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow and obtain their goals in life. He loved to watch his grandsons play hockey, baseball and soccer. He never missed a dance concert of his granddaughters, Zaidy came to all school concerts as he never wanted to miss out on the important events of their lives. Zaidy was a special person and his children and grandchildren will truly miss him. Also to left to mourn is his brother Joe and wife Ruthie and their daughter Jody and her family. Jack spent hours with Joe. The two of them enjoyed their weekly lunches at the park. They were brothers and the best of friends. Funeral services were held on April 16 at the Rosh Pina Synagogue.
