JANET MARIE HRABI (SMITH/nee ENGBERT) November 30, 1943 - April 27, 2000 It is with great courage and dignity, on April 27, 2000 after a seventeen month battle with cancer, Janet at the age of 56 years, went to be with her Lord and Maker, at her residence, with her husband Roy by her side. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Roy; mother Irene Engbert; children, Lawrence Smith and his children (Amanda, Lacey, Lawrence Jr. and Quinton), Cindy (Jim) Hood and their children (Faith and Vanessa), Brent (Connie) Smith, Tracey Human and step-sons, Robert and Brent Hrabi; sisters, Loran Flett-Giles and Paulette (Darren) Miller, and one great-grandchild. Janet was predeceased by her step-father Lorne Engbert. Janet was very outgoing and very dedicated to her children and their families, many relatives and friends. She resided at Beaconia (Scanterbury), Man. for most of her life. Janet loved fishing, camping, listening to her gospel tapes and worshipping her Lord and Saviour. She worked at Fresh Water Fish Corp., Canadian Wedding Services (as a consultant), and was self employed, owning Oles Jans Crafts. Janet was presently working for North Winds (Gas and Grill) for Larry and Susan Hodge, which were not only her employers for the last five years, but also, very close friends. The families would like to thank Dr. Wozny and the nursing staff of Selkirk General Hospital and Dr. Harris and the staff of the Cancer Clinic of Health Sciences Centre. A special thank you to Jans sister Lorna for all her love and devotion throughout her illness and to Home Care for their care and compassion shown to Mom and thank you to Peggy Hunnie for her care and support. At Janets request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place on Monday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. God looked around his garden and found an empty space, He then looked down upon the earth and saw her tired face. He put his arms around her and lifted her to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. We love you and will forever miss you. Rest in Peace In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Wpg., MB, R3C 9Z9.
