JESSIE MATTHEWSON (nee CLARKE) Born August 30, 1913 - Died April 27, 2000 Our beloved mother and grandmother Jessie Matthewson of Stonewall will be greatly missed. Predeceased by her husband Stewart and daughter Jill Sarvis, Jessie is survived by her daughters, Catherine Harvey (Garth), Debra Merritt (John) her son Don Matthewson (Louise) her sister Catherine Spalding; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jessie and Stewart were blessed with 62 years of marriage. Jessie was a kind and gentle soul and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always a teacher whether in her first one room school in Roland or at home. An avid reader, she had a voracious appetite for learning. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and playing Bridge. Jessie was an active member of the U.C.W. for 35 years and was involved with the Rockwood Music Festival and the Stonewall 4-H Club. The family would like you to join them in the celebration of her 86 years of life on Tuesday, May 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stonewall United Church. A reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Rosewood Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 or to Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, R0C 2Z0.
